I myself prefer 2 words "correct" or "replace".

The controversial phrase might be translated as " địa vị thấp kém của phụ nữ...". Is it Okie??? Because the connotative meaning of "status" is totally different from "position". This is my point of view and i'm willing to receive ur 'brick'. Hjhj

U can look the 2 words up in the Dictionary. 'controversial issue'- vd gây tranh cãi; "connotative meaning" là nghĩa biểu cảm ( express attitude/ feeling....); for instance: die - pass away. These 2 word have the same meaning; it refers "dead", 'no longer live/ exist) but possess 2 different Connotative meaning.^~^

Sry because i was so sleepy & lazy that I couldnt copy the meaning in the Dictionary. For better understanding of connotative meaning, Vietnamese will be taken as example:
- Chết/ Qua đời/ Tèo/ Từ trần/ Băng Hà/.... Have the same denotative meaning (nghĩa biểu vật - nghĩa của bản thân từ đó), refer to "death"- ám Chỉ cái Chết, ko tồn tại. But their connotative meaning ( nghĩa biểu cảm, chỉ cảm thái...)is quite different. 'chết' thì trung tính; "tèo" thì thái độ ng nói rất thản nhiên, ko tiếc thương; ' từ trần/ băng hà' mang sắc thái trang trọng.....
