1 & 2 Dec: Preparations at its heights with registration and arrival of participants and media at Corus Hotel‚ Kuala Lumpur. By today, most of the overseas teams, guests and media will be at Corus while come will be going directly to Zon Regency Hotel in Johor Bahru. These two days have been a hive of excitement in the 4x4 communities here with lots of communications going around. Some of the 4x4 enthusiasts living in the Klang Valley came down to Corus to have a personal look‚ others exchanged photos and comments on facebook and internet chats. The arrivals so far has been from Italy‚ Vietnam‚ Russia‚ Australia‚ Austria‚ Philippines‚ Indonesia‚ China and the local teams from peninsula Malaysia and from Sabah and Sarawak (East Malaysia).Vehicle scrutineering is being done at the basement carpark. So far the Russian contingent of 4 vehicles and 2 ATVs have cleared the scrutineering process.
Vietnam team got their vehicle out from the port yesterday afternoon and were busy fixing up the loose ends for today's checking. First timers Vietnam Otofun Team – Nguyen Hong Vinh and Hoang Kein Dinh are excited but very happy to start the event and they have also made many of 4x4 friends from Malaysia and abroad too. Anyway‚ they have already make RFC history as the first Vietnamese teams and also in their country‚ so a lot of fans back home will be watching them‚ check www.otofun.net. So‚ excitement is building up in Vietnam too and here in Malaysia. They also have a touring category joining them‚ Le Vinh Thai‚ Vu Do Hieu‚ Pham Dien‚ Tran Manh Hung‚ Ngo Viet Dung‚ Dang Danh Tuan‚ Nguyen manh Thang‚ Dinh Trong Thuy & Nguyen Ngoc Tu – making Vietnam the second biggest country contingent this year. Congrats Vietnam! The RFC is a time not only for the competition and adventure‚ it’s also a time to meet with lots of peers from around the world (from competitor teams to officials and media friends).
‚Meanwhile‚ over to Kota Iskandar‚ Nusajaya in Johor (some 400 kms away)‚ the preparations for the opening ceremony are in earnest with the setting up of the main arch‚ ramp‚ VIP stage‚ canopies and flagging–off ceremony gimmicks. This is Johor Welcomes The World razzmatazz to welcome RFC 2010 to Johor with the official launching by royal VVIP‚ His Majesty the Sultan of Johor. With its close proximity to Singapore‚ lots of off–road fans from the island republic will be crossing over for the weekend too. This 4 and 5 Dec – its show time‚ 4x4 time and adventure time!!
