While Pfizer disclosed the presence of the gene for the S2 component of the Spike Protein in the plasmid map provided to the regulators, they omitted other significant sequences identified by McKernan, including:
- The SV40 promoter: if this sequence is incorporated into the human genome next to a cancer gene, it may initiate cancer expression.
- The SV40 enhancer: this enables DNA introduced into the cell to be transported rapidly into the nucleus, where it may be incorporated into the host genome.
- An antibiotic resistance gene: this may confer antibiotic resistance to the host, which could have fatal consequences
