Cách Setup để đây burst mode lên 8fps
Confirmed, it works! Wow, the sound of 8fps is something else!
NOTE, SETTING E4 AND E5 ARE NOT REQUIRED FOR 8 FPS.
They're only needed if you want to shoot with the same exposure for each shot. The 8fps hack doesn't require them.
Here is my full list of settings required for the hack. Everything else is optional depending on what you want to achieve.
- S drive mode (not CH mode!)
- Auto Bracketing = 9F (for 9 shots at 8fps)
- Bracket Burst
- No flash
- No continuous AF**
**The last point can be achieved by several means:
- AF-S mode
- Manual focus lens
- AF-C with AF-ON only (setting A5 to OFF), without pressing the AF-ON button
(This is the mode I use all the time anyway -- try it if you haven't already.)
Optional settings:
- M mode with E5 to Flash Only. This gives the same exposure for each shot.
- P/A/S mode with E4 to Flash Only. This allows continuous metering. (I'm not convinced this works very well.)
Actually, it does seem to work with AF-C and AF-ON, but it totally stalls if it has to refocus. In other words, it will work if continuously focusing on a motionless object (but what's the point?). If the object moves, then instead of 6fps, you get nothing.
This leads to my theory that with the EN-EL3 battery, the underlying D300 hardware can EITHER:
- Shoot at 8fps
- Autofocus continuously
But not both.
So this hack does not completely uncripple the camera. Continuous AF does not work. This makes the hack (almost) useless for sports shooters, who are the primary market for 8fps with the grip.
Here's my theory:
* Using Bracket Burst bypasses a software limitation.
* HOWEVER, Nikon did not artificially cripple the camera.
- 8fps WITH CONTINUOUS AF may indeed require more power from the battery.
- If that is true, then I understand why Nikon would limit it to 6fps at all other times, for consistency and clarity.
Can you imagine how the manual would read, otherwise?
Right now it's pretty simple:
"6fps, or 8fps with battery pack."
With "artificial" limitation removed:
"6fps, or 8fps with battery pack, or 8fps with no continous autofocus." (Followed by a long and confusing explanation of all the possible settings to achieve this. Followed thereafter by angry users asking why their $2000 camera stalls out when shooting in CH + AF-C modes.)
Nikon has to preserve the image that its cameras are easy to use and understand wherever possible. From a UI perspective, this limitation is then pretty easy to understand.
