Chapter 1
Hariette
Rain was softly falling through the thick mist that surrounded the village. Little droplets landed in a rhythm in the puddles of water. The wind sang a little sorrowful as it tossed the leaves into the air. The scene seemed sad and lonely, like a cold winter day when you can’t see your friend coming to walk you home. But the spirit of the villagers seemed to be... undaunted. There was even a group sitting at their front door, singing merrily to the sounds of a guitar. There were also some children that chorused at the top of their lungs the Song of Amarygion, the God of the Weather, in an off-key sort of voice but sweet all the same.
Nothing could put these bold and peaceful folk from falling into despair. The people of Ashiroky could find every good side out of every bad thing. With the help of their life-long friend of course. Music. Babies are taught to sing and humm before they were taught to walk. People here have a natural talent for music. Theatres were the village’s most famous landmarks. Musicians compete with each other by improvising a tune out of a random instrument and let the audience vote for which one sounds best, which are available at 3pm East of Uncle Barter’s Food Stand, who was a famous retired bard whose food each had a unique melody to it every time you bit into one.
The rain water flowed into the river that surrounded the village. It gushed and surged to the old waterfall. A tall astounding wall of Pacific and azure blue stood over the village. It tumbled over the edge and fell rapidly to the bubbling white mist below.
The cascade seemed to be laughing gently as it whooshed and plummeted playfully over the dark brown rocks that surrounded the pool of water. Bushes and plants stood on the shore, just over the bounds of the water, showered by the vapour and spurts of water like a powerful garden sprinkler.
