Pakistan to import raws and whites Bộ Công nghiệp Pak nhập đường thô và trắng
Pakistan plans to import a total of 375,000mt of sugar, of which 300,000mt are raws and 75,000mt whites.
A senior official at the Ministry of Industries told Reuters that the government had decided ‘in principle’ to import the 300,000mt of raws later this year. The Ministry has also suggested that the government review the duty structure on sugar to be imported by the private sector.

Sugar production as of end July reached 12.8 million mt, up 19.25% from 10.7 million mt, as mills used 42.69% of cane to make sugar, up from 40.08%. Ethanol output rose to 10.6 billion litres (8.17 billion hydrous and 2.37 billion anhydrous), up 7.55% from 9.8 billion.
Brazilian sugar exports in July rose by 35.1% by value to $761 million compared with the same month of 2008. This resulted from a 19.1% price rise and an increase of 13.4% in the volume shipped-sugar exports to India rose 200% compared with July 2008. However, fuel ethanol exports fell 37.7% to $175 million, as the price dropped 18.3% and the volume exported shrank by 23.7%.

USDA finds more sugar đòi mua thêm
The USDA increased its estimate of Mexican sugar imports in 2008-2009 to 1.45 million short tons raw value from 1.3 million tons previously and raised its US sugar production forecast to 7.571 million tons from 7.471 million in its supply/demand update on Wednesday. The USDA also raised its estimate of total use to 11,170 million tons from 11.070 million ‘to reflect the refined portion of the increase in imports from Mexico,’ and trimmed its stocks to use ratio to 11.2% from 11.7%.
Nevertheless, end stocks were raised by 150,000 tons to 1.252 million tons while 2009-2010 US sugar production was also boosted by 250,000 tons to 8.275 million tons (cane sugar up 50,000 tons and beet sugar up 200,000). Imports were 50,000 tons lower than previously estimated ‘on prospects of higher world market prices increasing shortfall in filling the tariff rate quota’, while the stocks to use ratio was raised to 6.7% from 3.4%.
Reuters adds that the USDA kept unchanged its estimates for Mexico's sugar market in its report. It pegged Mexican 2009-2010 production at 5.5 million mt and consumption at 5.54 million. Ending stocks were forecast at 1.1 million mt and exports at 150,000 mt.

Kazakhstan sets import quota cho quota
Kazakhstan has set a sugar import quota of 54 422.8 mt that will come into effect ten days from the official publication date of August 22nd and will last until April 1st, 2010. The quota was established under government order No. 1186.
